Spring break came around this year and I had no real plans. It seemed like everyone else was doing something awesome, going cool places, and I was stuck in Corvallis doing nothing. My roommate Cody was in the same boat, so Monday morning while sitting in the coffee shop down the street we started talking about taking a big road trip that day, on a whim.

30 minutes later we had everything we needed for a week away packed into his old Subaru Outback and we were on the road. We started out with the intent of staying in Bend, OR for a few days and exploring the area, but when we got there the weather was terrible so we decided to make our way to the redwoods just for the sake of adventure.

We drove Southwest through the pass to I-5, braving snow and ice along the way until we eventually had to pull over on some backroad in Crescent City around 4 a.m. to get some sleep.

The next day we woke up early, ate breakfast at a crappy diner, trekked through the redwoods and eventually made our way down the California coastline to Fort Bragg and Glass Beach, which was absolutely incredible.

We decided to turn homeward after Fort Bragg, mainly because I came down with strep that morning and needed to get home to take care of myself. In total we travelled about 1,400 miles in three days, and had a complete blast the entire time.
